While busy pattern making, toiling and construing our graduating range we start a new subject, that requires us to make a business plan. Starting the business plan i don't really know were to start, my mind is so busy thinking of all the things I've got to do! ahhhhhhhh!

So i open the learning guide and start to read thorough, it asks all these questions about where am i going and how do i plan to get there? I think that's a pretty good question, but where do i start? i thought how about starting at the beginning?

What made me what to study fashion design?

It's not so much clothing fashion that got me into fashion as it was lingerie. I love lingerie, i love the way it makes you feel, the confidence it gives you and that nothing can stand in your way. I will always coordinate my outfits around the lingerie i was wanting to wear on the day. And i have been know to spend alot more on my lingerie then clothes i wear on the outside. let's not forget the shoes you need to match. I'm obsessed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I applied for Tafe in 2008 and got in! yay! From day one I knew and let everyone know that i wanted to design lingerie. 1st year we learnt the basics on designing, pattern making and constructing skirt's, pants and dresses. 2ed year we had a bit more freedom as we knew a little more about what we were doing. we designed, pattern made and constructed more advanced garments including two outfits that wear displayed in a parade for the spring carnival at morphetteville in 2009. We did have to produce outer wear but in my own time with help from my lectures I made my first matching set! Later in the year we did a production run wear every student designed an outfit and we worked in teams to produce all the garments in size runs to sell at Gillies street Markets. Again the assignment was for outer wear but after some negotiation with my lecturers we put into production a cute little bloomer set that I'd designed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it was a sell out :)

3ed year has been even more freedom with trying to do as many assignments as i can on lingerie, including my graduating range!

My range i wanted to keep it very close to my signature style. I love old Hollywood movies and musicals i love the way the women looked sexy without being provocative. I love 1950's pin up girls and anything vintage be it furniture, wallpaper, accessories or fashion. My designs are classy, elegant and aims to make the wearer feel glamours.

When designing i kept this in mind. When I one day have my own label i would like my designs to be individual but easily identifiable as a Lani de Beer piece. I imagine my lingerie in theatre, movie's and music productions but also for the women who likes to feel special and indulge.
